Word from the Changemaker
"SDG 5 spoke to me the most because gender equality is necessary for achieving long-term growth. Women's empowerment is vital for poverty reduction, health improvement, and economic progress. Gender equality demands addressing the core causes of gender-based discrimination and establishing an equal opportunity for women and girls to engage in all aspects of life. This struck a chord with me because gender equality is a key objective for myself and other women around the world. Gender-based discrimination and violence remain significant impediments to women's empowerment, impeding progress in many areas of sustainable development. To achieve gender equality, it is necessary to address the underlying causes of prejudice and to ensure that women and girls have equal opportunities to engage in all areas of life."
